Cairns Esplanade Lagoon is recognisable with its five centrepieces of steel sculptures standing in the lagoon itself. These ‘woven fish’, spouting water from their tails, were commissioned by the Cairns City Council in 2003 and have since become an icon of Cairns in Northern Queensland, Australia. The lagoon is a saltwater free public swimming pool offering all-year-round, safe, swimming without the dangers of stingers and crocodiles.
