Memorial Fountain in Dupont Circle Washington NW. In memory of Samuel Francis Dupont - Rear Admiral, United States Navy, 1803-1865. Sculptor: Daniel Chester French. Architect: Henry Bacon. Completed in 1921 (replacing a statue of Admiral Dupont standing). This right side: a semi-nude symbolizing The Sea, safely carrying a ship. Partly visible to the left: the statue symbolizing The Stars. French and Bacon also did the Lincoln Memorial (1910-1922) and the Lincoln Sculpture (1920) together.
