DE JONG FLORAL AND SEED CO., PELLA, IOWA 11 FORDHOOK BUSH LIMA BEAN The Fordhook Bush Lima is al- together unique, being an improved erect bush form of the popular "Po- tato ; Mr. Burpee, the in- troducer, says: Nothing like it has ever been seen before. Of strong, erect, true bush like growth (never prostrate or running), the burhes average 20 to 30 inches in height by 20 to 24 inches across the top. The foliage is of heavy texture and very dark green in oclor. The stalks that produce the blos- soms are thrown out from the lat- eral and main stalk; the pods are borne in "clusters" of from four to eight. The pods resemble those of the Dreers Bush Lima, but average more than double the size, measur- ing from four to five inches long, about one and a quarter inches wide. The pods contain three to five large beans with an average of four. In the illustration you will note the extreme size and thickness of the beans. It is the first and only true bush form of the luscious large Lima Bean. The bushes grow eighteen to twenty inches high, of stout growth and always erect, yet branching so vigorously that each plant develops into a mag- nificent bush. It is an immense yielder, each bush bearing from 50 to 200 of the handsome large pods, well filled with very large beans. Plant when soil becomes warm, in rows 2 feet apart and fully 12 inches between the plants. Pinch out the top when about one foot high which will cause plants to branch more. Per pkt. 5 cts., pt. 20 cts., 2 for 35 cts. postpaid, by freight or
