Shiva and Parviti stand on two low pithas. In his upper right hand Shiva carries the parashu (axe), in his upper left the mriga (gazelle), and in his lower pair of hands he holds the infant Gaṇeśa or Pillaiyar, ‘the Honourable Child’. In her upper right handParviti carries the pasha (noose), in her upper left the parashu (axe) and stretches her lower pair of hands towards Gaṇeśa.
