There is something very reassuring about these old typography specimen books, once an integral part of and design office. Monotype were one of the leading suppliers of metal type and issued these compendiums of their typefaces every few years. From 1969 when Monotype had offices at London, with works at Redhill. The firm has long since navigated the change over to digital fonts with most type now done on a desk top system.
