The Valley of the Avisio, 60 M. long, consists of three sections: thelowest, from Lavis to Val Floriana (21 M.), called the Cembra (or Zim-mers):, the central part, as far as Moena (24 M.), the Fiemme (or Fleims):,and the highest region, extending to Penia (15 M.), the Faasa (Evas).,which is famed for its Dolomites (comp. p. 344). From Lavis (p. 293), where the Avisio emerges on the plain of theAdige from a narrow rocky gorge, the valley is seldom visited (fromLavis to Cavalese 27 M.). The usual route is from stat.
