Semi-terrestrial Hermit Crab (Coenobita compressus) in a broken shell on coral head, Urvina Bay Isabela Island Galapagos EC

Urvina Bay, Isabela, Galapagos Islands is situated at the foot of Volcan Alcedo. In 1954 the whole area was raised by up to 10 m. in places. A further uplift short of 1 m took place 40 years later in 1994. The coral heads found several meters inland testify to the volcanic activities on the island.
