The president of the Florists' Olub was born at Beverly, Mass., in 1875. He enlered the employ of J. Newman & Sons, Boston, at the age of 12, in 1887, so he has spent thirty-three years in the florists' business. The question of new leases is be- ginning to interest the wholesalers, es- pecially those in the Lemoyne build- ing, whose terms expire April 30. When the cut flower houses moved into the Lemoyne building it had stood empty some months, new, and they ob- tained low rentals. Since then the V)uilding and neighborhood have filled up and rents have been advancing steadily. It is reported the agent plans to double the original rates as fast as the leases expire. In other buildings the advances are less sharp but are considerable. Most of those in the Atlas block stood a big boost last May. C. J.
