A tentacled flathead, Papilloculiceps longiceps, or Crocodilefish from the Southern Red Sea, Egypt.


Only little is known about the ecology of these fish. They are usually encountered close to coral reefs on sandy or rocky areas, where they use camouflage to catch their prey- smaller bottom-dwelling animals. Close relatives include scorpion- and stone fish.
