Fortunately, a full evening dress, such as is shown in our illustration,is appropriate for all ceremonious oc-casions; such as evening parties andreceptions. The elegant eveningtoilette here represented, is of otto-man silk, of the apricot tint. Thelower skirt is short and round ; thelower edge being trimmed with threeflounces of Pompadour lace, with apinked ruche heading of the ma-terial. A cascade of the lace isplaced down the centre of the frontbreadth. The short overskirt formstwo wide points in front, and islooped bouffant at the back, fallingto the bottom of the skirt in watteaudrapery, and trimmed with a flounceof the lace and ruching above. The waist is low in the neck, and pointed ; thesleeves come to above the elbow, andare trimmed with two flounces of lace withruching above. A handsome fichu madeof balls of lace with chenille fringe between, and finished with a pinked ruche of thesilk, with a Marshal-Neil rose fastening it. in front, completes this lovely toilette. Thegloves are of the apricot tint, and arefinished with a pleating of ottoman silk atthe top. Clusters of Marshal-Neil roses arein the coiffure. This pretty evening dressis of course most suitable for a young ladyof the, brunette type; but in ciel blue, orany of the delicate shades of pink,it would be found equally suitableand becoming to a blonde. Eveningdresses for quite young ladies arefrequently made of India mull. Thestyle most popular for this materialis the baby waist, that shows off aplump neck to perfection; but thisinfantile style scarcely suits the dig-nified young ladies, long out of theirteens. Besides, the many rich andelegant materials in heavy brocadesand ottomans of this seasons impor-tions, are temptations that are diffi-cult to resist. Then again, thecharming evening tints in pink, blue, apricot, and Japanese lilac, take on aricher coloring and have a morestriking effect, when represented i
