Some of the veins have been oxidized for a few feet in depth, but generallythe undecomposed ore may be seen quite near the surface. An open leached-out crackoccasionally is all the prospector at first finds which, on being followed down, frequentlyreveals a calcite vein. In parts of the area there are some very strong calcite veins, some as wide asthree feet, and which have been traced over several claims. These are usually quite. An exceptionto this is the large vein on the Morrison, T C 315. This vein is reported to havebeen traced 2,000 feet and the writer saw it at several points uncovered with a widthof from two to three feet of calcite. Near the camp this vein strikes N. 68° E. consists of a series of wide lenses, and had been opened up by a pit near the campwhere, for a distance of eight feet, some rich ore consisting of silver, smaltite, nicco-lite and bismuth in calcite had been taken out. The ore occurs in a rich bunch atthis point. At other points along the vein where stripped the writer did not observea similar mineralization. 182 Bureau of Mines No. 4 There is a wide calcite vein, with a strike similar to the above vein, on the MillerLake-OBrien property which cuts a north and south silver-bearing vein, pro
