THE REPAIR SHOPSThe shop layout, as shown,is only a portion of the ultimateplans, and is intended to takecare of the repairs of the roll-ing stock and equipment nec-essary for the operation of thefirst section of the subway andelevated lines. It has beenplanned with a view to mak-ing extensive additions. Briefly,the plan consists of an inspec-tion shop, a jacking-up andtruck repair shop, a machineshop, a miscellaneous repairshop, a storeroom with a trans-fer table, and offices, toiletroom, locker room, etc. In front of the inspectionshop, which is the first of threeto be erected, are seven storagetracks laid approximately 1 1ft. center to center. Four ofthese are continued into the in-spection shop. Into this shop,as the name implies, trains arerun at intervals for inspectionand for minor repairs whichmay be necessary.
