'Burundi's ethnic strife', Mediatice Masurugume, 16, now in a hospital in the capital, Bujumbura, survived after a Hutu mob locked them in the office of the Kibimba petrol station and set them on fire with petrol. 20 fellow Tutsi school children were burnt to death. She and some others managed to bend window bars on a and climb out. But the Hutus were waiting for them & hit them on the head with a hammer. She survived by pretending to be dead after the first blow. Others who moved were beaten to death. She has 40% burns.
