The loss of cranberry vines in the winter of '43-'44 took half the '44 crop and re- duced that of '45. All practical methods to conserve water for the coming winter should be used Wisconsin Acreage Survey by Varieties And Sprinklers A special survey of the Wis- consin cranberry marshes was underway in late September. This was to make a more com- plete enumeration of acreage and varieties. The survey was being made at the request of the "Wisconsin State Cranberry Growers' Association and was being financed by funds supplied by both the Wisconsin and the United States Department of Agriculture. The survey, directed by Elex Sturges, will include questions to cranberry growers on harvested acreages by variety this year and the expected acreages five years from now.
