Very compact vigorous plants and probably the best winter variety. The stalks are very broad and thick, solid, crisp, and of rich nutty flavor. They blanch easily to a pale yellow. This is ready for use ahead of all other varieties. Unsurpassed for fall and early winter use. Leaves are bright green with white tips and as the plants grow the inner stalks and leaves turn white, thus making very little earthing up necessary to thoroughly blanch them.
