The Danish writer and poet, Hans Christian Andersen lived at three different addresses in Nyhavn, Copenhagen. From 1834-38 in Nyhavn 20 on the other side of the Nyhavn Canal. Here he wrote some of his early fairy tales. From 1848-65 he lived on the second floor in Nyhavn 67 in three rooms in a boarding house run by the Anholm family (this image). From 23rd October 1871 to his death 4th August 1875 he lived in Nyhavn 18, also on the other side of the canal close to his earlier address.
