Congenital hip dysplasia. X-ray of the hips of a woman with congenital hip dysplasia, a condition where the hip joint does not fit together properly, causing it to dislocate frequently and become worn. The X-ray shows the damage between the head of the femurs (thigh bones) and the hip joint socket in the pelvis. Where the cartilage has been worn away bone (bright white) has grown in its place causing pain and loss of mobility. Treatment is with hip replacement surgery.
