MODEL RELEASED. Abdominal hernia. Eighty-seven year old man with a spigelian hernia (protrusion at centre). A hernia is the abnormal protrusion of an organ or tissue through an opening. In this case part of the intestine is protruding through spigelian fascia in the upper abdominal wall. This is a rare type of hernia that often produces no symptoms. Treatment is with surgical repair of the hole.
