The Pioneer Monument was erected to the honorof the band of Pioneers of which he was a member and his nameappears with the rest upon it. This year, 1915, the great Capitol of the State of Utah,has been finished, as if in memory of the one hundreth anniver-sary of the birth of Major Howard Egan, but at least repre-senting the grand advancement of the great commonwealth ofwhich with other Pioneers he played so prominent a part inlaying the foundation; and it was on this anniversary of hisbirth we commenced to publish this volume, and expect in thenear future to build a monument in honor of his ICasle Gate, Beehive House, Church Offices and Lion House.
