Heretofore the operating officials ofthe interurban railway have been located in different build-ings at the Springfield terminal, and some of them havehad their offices in Decatur and Champaign, 111. This newarrangement offers quarters for the whole operating staffat Springfield and will greatly facilitate intercourse be-tween the different departments. The plans and specifications for remodeling the buildingwere prepared by the track and roadway department ofthe Illinois Traction System under the supervision of L. A space, 13 x 20 ft.,at the opposite end of the platform is inclosed by a concrete wall which extends from the ground levelto the ceiling on the second floor. This serves as fireproofstorage space for the records of the traffic, land and claimdepartments. A driveway, 16 ft. in width, with an entrance at both Martin, engineer maintenance of way, and the actual workof remodeling was done by the owner of the building, fromwhom the company has obtained a long-term lease.
