Fukushima nuclear power plant. Satellite image of the Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear power plant in Okuma, Japan, taken more than 10 months after the 2011 earthquake and tsunami. The magnitude earthquake struck 130km off the east coast of Japan at local time ( GMT) on 11th March 2011, triggering an enormous Tsunami. It was the largest earthquake ever recorded in Japan and the 5th largest in the world. Imaged by the GeoEye-1 satellite on 31st January 2012.
