Hitting the Borneo Beach. As his assault boat moves to the blasted shore with a load of Australian troops off Balikpapan, Borneo, Coast Guard Lieut. (JG) Clarence W. Loma shouts instructions to an adjoining Coast Guard Landing Craft. Coast Guard LST's participated in the Balikpapan invasion on D-Day, carrying not only troops but also heavy Equipment necessary to put the oil-rich region into operating condition soon after the assault.
