It is almost impossible for those who have not witnessed it to realisefrom what a depth of degradation this charming cathedral has arisen. From itscompletion in mediaeval times till late in this century, its only history has beenone of Decline and Fall. So that though Llandaff claims to be one of the mostancient sees, if not the most ancient, yet practically its bishopric, its cathedral,and its cathedral body are all alike new.
