Local Chef and Restaurateur, Guy Awford, demonstrating on the Chefs Stage, at the 2017 OnBlackheath Festival

You can’t get more local to Blackheath than Guy Awford, whose Guildford Arms gastropub is just a short walk from the festival site, and a real gem that residents round here cherish. Described as West End-standard dining in South London, The Guildford Arms was praised in the 2017 Michelin Guide and is a haven of top British cuisine. Guy also oversees Hand Made Food, a deli, cafe and catering business  in the heart of Blackheath where chefs cook for people to either eat in, take away or will even come and cook at remote locations across London and the South East. Dedicated to supporting local suppliers and using seasonal food, it’s a great example of making great dishes while minimising food miles and the impact on the environment. Guy also finds time between running these two businesses to write monthly features in The Guide Resident and is a very visible and active member of the local community.
