This delicious vegetable is one of the most important of ail garden products. The esed should be sown in a hot-bed about the first week in March, in drills five inches apart, and half an inch deep. When the plants are about two inches high, they should be set out four or nve inches apart in another hot-bed, or removed into small pots, allowing a single plant to a pot. About the middle of May the plants may bo set out in the open ground ; they are planted for early crops on light, sandy soil, at a distance of three feet apart, in hills in which a good shovelful of rotted manure should be mixed. On heavy soil, which is not suited for an early crop, they should be planted four feet apart. Water freely at the time of transplanting, and shelter from the sun-for a few days nntil the plants are established. Sufficient plants for a small garden cov be started by sowing a few seeds in a shallow box or flower-pot, md placing it in a sunny window of the room or MATCHLESS TOMATO. Extra Early A<1 vance. "We consider this variety to be the earli- est really good tomato grown. The fruits are large, bright-red, very solid and without green core.
