A MV-22B Osprey takes off from the amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA-6) during fly away drills, in the Pacific Ocean, June 16, 2023. The fly away drills improved coordination between the ground combat element and the air combat element for future operations. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of the America Amphibious Ready Group in the 7th Fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
