THE DEAD SEA. The most mysterious body of water in Palestine, if not in the world,is the Dead Sea. It is situated in the lowest portion of the ravine thatextends from the northern to the extreme southern portion of Pales-tine. Although theyhave discovered and brought many things of interest to light, yetthere is a deep mystery clinging to it, which has baffled the mosttalented scientists of the world to demonstrate. Many have consentedto accept the Scripture narratives concerning it, as to its origin, whilstothers have endeavored to trace its origin to some other cause, butwithout satisfying themselves, after years of research and much loss oftime.
