As early as the year1804 a newspaper underthe name of The German Farmerwas published here by John Young-man. While no copies of the papers arenow known of, as being in evidence that there was such anewspaper, is found in certain bills ofJohn Youngman on file in the Com-missioners office of Somerset set forth among other items thepublication of the unseated land list forthe year 1805 eight times in the Ger-man Farmer. The publication was both in Ger-man and English. Whether there wereboth German and English editions ofthis newspaper, or whether this matter was printed both in German and Eng-lish in the same newspaper, as wasdone with certain advertisements in aGerman ne
