Wild Konik horses on Wicken Fen in Cambridgeshire
The wild Konik horses on Wicken Fen in Cambridgeshire on April 5th 2016. Dramatic pictures of wild stallions SPARRING have been taken in the middle of the English countryside. The rare Konik ponies reared up and fought with their forelegs in the impressive fight on the wetlands of Wicken Fen - just 10 miles from the city of Cambridge. The breathtaking display, which looked more like something you would see on the plains of America, was watched by three new foals, who huddled close to their mums as the males fought. The three cute ponies will have to grow up fast to keep up with the wild herd, which roams the Cambridgeshire wetlands. Herds of wild horses vanished from Britain 4,000 years ago so these macho sparring displays are now rarely seen. Many of the males in the herd are covered in battle scars and bites from fighting.
