Perforated button from Cueva Mayor site. This object was found in the El Portalon section of the Cueva Mayor cave system in the Sierra de Atapuerca foothills in northern Spain. The artefacts found in this area are mostly from the Bronze Age, with dates from 900 BC to 1690 BC. An upper level also includes remains from the late Roman period (4th century). In 2000, Sierra de Atapuerca was made a world heritage site by UNESCO. Photographed in 2017.
