This design was drawn for John W. Thomas, Esq.,of Chelten Hills, near Philadelphia. The work wascontracted for by George Watson, Esq., builder, fora little less than ^50,0x30, and was built of Falls ofSchuylkill granite: the base being range-work, andthe whole superstructure of rubble-work, pointedwith white mortar, and lined by a neat black line,and all the wood-work outside painted and sandedto the color of Pictou stone. The building is con-sidered a very beautiful one, and has a grand andimposing appearance. The details were all drawnwith care and executed in a superior manner. Theinterior is grand, and executed chiefly in blackwalnut, finished without gloss. First Floor.—i, vestibule, 7 feet 6 inches by 10feet; 2, parlor, 17 feet 10 Inches by 33 feet; 3, hall,10 by 30 feet 10 inches; 4, sitting-room, 17 feet 10inches by 20 feet; 5, dining-room, 17 feet 10 inchesby 30 feet 10 Inches; 6, servants dining-room, 10feet 9
