The first sight of the Old Man of Hoy, by a walker, as it appears above the cliffs on the path from Rackwick on the Isle of Hoy. The sandstone sea stack is 449 ft (137m) high. It is suggested to be no more than 250 years old and is said to be the tallest sea stack in Britain. Chris Bonington, Rusty Baillie and Tom Patey were the first to climb it in 1966.
