The Dark Hedges is a beautiful and mysterious avenue of beech trees in Ballymoney, Northern Ireland; it was planted by the Stuart family in the eighteenth century. Two centuries later, these iconic trees have become one of the most photographed tourist attractions in Northern Ireland, mainly due to this site featuring heavily as Kings Road in the epic Game of Thrones TV fantasy series. What few images show, however, is that many of the trees were damaged by recent stormy weather. Likewise, they fail to show the chaos now resulting from hordes of tourists, cars and coaches bouncing off each other - often dangerously so - as they attempt to take a snap.
