Any low-grade material should go to the market as suchwhere there is likely to be the greatest demand for it, and should not beara brand. Co-operative marketing of vegetables has proven eminently successfulin many localities. A notable example of such marketing is that of theEastern Virginia Produce Exchange, with the headquarters at Onley, Loading Peaches for Auto Truck Transportation at Glassboro, N. The sales of this exchange amount to about $4,000,000 annually, and itcarries from §50,000 to $100,000 to the surplus fund each year. The sales of this exchange are made in the northern cities in carloadlots by traveling salesmen. If there is any complaint on the arrival ofproduce, a man is sent at once to investigate, and if claim is just, settle-ment is made. It is the aim to market goods that come up to the standardclaimed for them and to do a strictly honest business. Marketing Fruit.—Reference has been made to the advantages fre-quently taken of the producer by commission merchants.
