This view shows the inner entrance gateway to the mausoleum of Dr Sun Yat-sen, seen from the top of the flight of steps to the tomb itself. Sun Yat-sen was at the head of the revolution that deposed China's imperial system in 1912, and was the first president of the Republic of China. The mausoleum is in the city of Nanjing, northwest of Shanghai, originally the republic's capital.
