This miraculous feat was sooncounterbalanced by the rout of Adwalton Moor, from which fieldSir Thomas managed to rally a portion of his men, and to cut his waythrough the Royalist army to join Cromwell. On the retreat he waswounded, but he was able to fight at Winceby (October 11) with hiswonted courage. Next year he was again in the north, and led theright wing at Marston Moor. Shortly afterwards he was dangerouslywounded at the siege of Helmsby Castle, but recovered, much to the.
