NOVA SCOTIA August weather was characterized by much rain, mm as against the 50-year-average of and lack of sunshine hr compared with , the 50-year-average. September saw an improvement in the weather and the harvesting of cranberries began Sept. 17. The color was slightly better than at the same time last year. Harvesting continued for another three to four weeks. WASHINGTON August maximum temperature was 74 degrees on the 21st with the minimum 45 degrees on the 15 th and 21st. The precipitation totaled inches, with the greatest amount of moisture on the 19th with .53 inches of precipitation.
