A history of the family of Seton during eight centuries [With plates, including portraits, illustrations, facsimiles, a bibliography and genealogical tables.] . , and died 18th Septem-ber 1876, when he was succeeded by his son, ARMORIAL BEARINGS 5 11. Sir Seton Gordon, eleventh Baronet, born 21st March 1845, formerly an officer in the 44th regiment, with which he served in India; afterwards for some years a Captain in the Royal Glamorgan Light Infantry Militia, married, 25th November 1870, Mabel-Montagu, only child of Montagu-David Scott, Esq., for East Sussex, and granddaughter of Sir David Scott, second Baronet, of Duninald, , for many years , for Yarmouth, by whom he has a son, Home-Seton-Charles-Montagu, born30th September 1871. Sir Seton Gordon informs me that heknows almost nothing about his familyhistory and the intermarriages of theEmbo line. All the family documents,he writes, were destroyed many yearsago by fire, in my fathers time, when we,alas! lost everything we most valued, including two large muniment-chests, fullof deeds, wills, grants, and letters to myancestors from Mary Queen of Scots, Bothwell, and the Armorial Bearings. Azure, three boars heads erased, or. Supporters—dexter, a unicorn ; sinister, a naked man, wreathed aboutthe loins. Crest—a boars head, as in the — Forward without fear. 512 FAMILY OF LETTERFOURIE
