Three fallow deer stags with large antlers and different colour coats walk in procession at Knole Park National Trust property in Sevenoaks Kent UK
Three fallow deer stags with impressive antlers walk at Knole Park, a National Trust property in Kent UK. The common fawn coloured coat fades to a general grey colour during the winter and you can see different stages in these three stags. The fallow deer is the only species in Britain with palmate antlers in which the angles between the tines are partly filled in to form a broad flat surface. These become full-sized after the deer are three/four years old and can reach up to in length. Knole Park where this was taken has a 350-strong wild sika and fallow deer herd.
