Sometimes thereare distinct cracks in the cloth, and in nine cases out of every ten, they are caused by slack yarn, especially is this so with cam workof four or more harnesses. Notice the cloth that is woven and onewill see the defects occur almost regularly. Then w^atch the loom, and the probable cause will be the yarn is slack on one certain har-ness, and when the filling is beaten up the slack yarn forms in arub wdiich prevents the close beating up of the filling, raising thatharness up a little to tighten the yarn.
