Comet Holmes in Perseus

Comet Holmes (17P) is the fuzzy object above centre left, seen within the stars of Perseus, rising over trees on 16 November 2007. At the time this comet was predicted to be well below naked-eye visibility, but flared by about half a million times to become easily visible without optical aid for several weeks.
