Cosmonaut spacesuit gloves. Pair of gloves from a Russian Sokol pressure suit. These gloves were custom made for the Soviet cosmonaut Alexander Kaleri and have his initials printed on the cuffs. The Sokol spacesuit was introduced in 1973 and is still used today (as of 2012) by all who fly on the Soyuz spacecraft. Its purpose is to keep the wearer alive in the event of an accidental depressurisation of the spacecraft.
