Erie Land Lighthouse


Erie Land Lighthouse, Pennsylvania, United States The Presque Isle Lighthouse was constructed in 1818. This lighthouse was the first American built on the Great Lakes. The Erie Land Lighthouse was discontinued in 1880. The lighthouse was partially dismantled and the property was sold off, but it was re-established in 1885. The lighthouse is owned by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. Directions: Follow Interstate 79 to its end. Turn left onto 12th Street. Turn right onto Peninsula Drive, which is also Highway 832. Follow onto the Presque Isle Peninsula and into Presque Isle State Park. The lighthouse is open to the public from 10 to 4 every Saturday and Sunday between Memorial Day and Labor Day. There are boat tours also available during the summer.
