Cloch Lighthouse on the Firth of Clyde in Scotland between Gourock and Inverkip

The Cloch Lighthouse with its white tower and black band has sat on the Firth of Clyde since 1797. It was built to warn boats away from The Gantocks, a dangerous reef of drying rocks or skerry directly west of the point. It was designed by Thomas Smith and his son-in-law Robert Stevenson and was completed in 1797. The foghorns were added between 1895 and 1897.
