This image may not be used to state or imply ESA endorsement of any company or product Venus, day and night views. Sequence of images composed of the day side of Venus (on the left, taken in visible light at 380 nanometres) and the night side of Venus (on the right, taken in infrared light at microns). The visible part shows solar radiation reflected by the atmosphere. The infrared part shows complex cloud structures, revealed by the thermal radiation coming up from different depths. The brighter the colour red the more radiation is coming up from the lower layers. The sequence of images was taken by VIRITIS on board ESA's Venus Express spacecraft, between 12th and 19th April 2006.
