Thus Iowa leads with a million and a half cows, followed by NewYork with almost as many, and then Illinois and Pennsylvania with about amillion each. The States having over half a million each are Wisconsin,Ohio, Kansas, Missouri, Minnesota, Nebraska, and Indiana. Texas is creditedwith 700,000, but very few of them are dairy animals. In the Middle andEastern States the milk product goes very largely to the supply of the numer-ous cities and large towns. In the Central West and Northwest butter is theprincipal dairy product.
