Loch Dochfour is split by the causeway carrying the A82 trunk road which takes traffic between Inverness and Fort William. The split side is currently frozen sold in contrast to the navigable section which forms a part of the Caledonian Canal. The River Ness falls away over the weir on it's route to the Morray Firth and Lochness itself can be seen continuing down the Great Glen in the far distance.
