Car and Stiga 20 tractor at the Benedictine Abbey in Fort Augustus, both old and new buildings visible in this image
This is a wonderful building, that was constructed in 1880 as a Benedictine abbey, called the Fort Augustus Abbey. However, in the 1990's, the school that was run as part of the abbey had to be closed and that meant that there was now a shortage of funds. There were a number of measures that were tried, but eventually the abbey was closed and the monks left. Finally, the abbey was converted into self-catering apartments for tourists, now being called the The Highland Club. These self-catering apartments are also called the Aonach Mor apartments, and present a great experience for tourists with large private gardens and at the shore of the lake. It is necessary to have equipment to maintain such a building and the gardens, and the Stiga 20 is one of the vehicles used for this purpose, and can also be used for hauling other stuff. Can also see a parked Ford car in this photo.
