Davies for his collection of blooms, whieli arc 1,'rown in wliat was formerly an un- sightly dumping ground at tlie Turk and Fillmore streets car barn. He won first ])ri/e for tlie most meritorious ex- hibit. Of unusual interest was the exliibit by l)risoners of San C^uentin, the state peni- tentiarj, a varied collection of choice blooms which were grown in their own garden under the guidance of one of the convicts, William 1'.
