Fort Pierce is a center for bothfishing and shooting, and points that are as yetpractically undisturbed may easily be usual water excursions may be made, andthe boat from St. Augustine to Palm Beachstops here. Back of it liesthe high sandy ridge, but sparsely forested, andback of that the savannahs, rivers and lakes, and •the Everglades. Such is the contour of thecountry in general from here to o O o
